There might come a point in life when you feel tired all the time. You seem to be doing nothing to bring this on, on the surface. But, there might be certain lifestyle habits that are contributing to this condition. Let’s explore why some people feel tired all the time.

Reason for feeling tired all the time

The reasons can vary. Going to bed late is the main culprit when it comes to a lot of health issues. If you don’t get a proper good night’s sleep it can lead to a number of health issues. And, one of them is fatigue. Feeling tired all the time can cause other problems. Such as not being able to concentrate, memory loss, and the power of retention are some of them.

The goal should be to take at least 6 to 9 hours of sleep every day. Also, it is important to note that staying up all night and sleeping during the day will not bring on the desired results. Sleep deprivation at night is the main reason why we feel tired all the time.

Sleep disorders

There are various illnesses that prevent a person from getting a decent night of sleep. One of them is sleep apnea. This happens when suddenly a person stops breathing during short intervals when asleep. Most of the time, the person is unaware that this is happening. The most telling symptom of sleep apnea is loud snoring. The other is feeling tired all the time.

There are three factors that can worsen sleep apnea. One is drinking alcohol; the other is smoking; and lastly, being overweight. The most effective way of fighting sleep apnea is controlling these three factors. Losing weight is paramount. Devise an effective weight loss routine and commit to it. Quit smoking – there is no other way around it. And, lastly, avoid intake of alcohol.

Skipping meals

If you don’t get enough food into your system, you will feel tired all the time. The cardinal rule is, eat healthily and eat on time. Skipping meals is a big no. This can lead to many health problems. A lot of the people go without food these days due to busy schedules.

If there’s absolutely no time to consume a full meal, opt for a healthy snack. Don’t go for greasy, salty fast food. Although these can give you an instant sugar rush, as soon as the calories are burned, you will start feeling fatigued.

A piece of fruit, a yoghurt or a salad will keep your stomach satisfied until you have time to sit down for a full meal. 

Reduced haemoglobin

Skipping meals can manifest in another life-threatening condition: anaemia. And, this can lead to feeling tired all the time. This is especially seen in women. Lack of proper meals leads to iron deficiency, which in turn causes anaemia. If there is not enough iron in the blood, then red blood cells won’t be able to carry oxygen throughout the body. Therefore, iron deficiency causes anaemia which in turn deprives the body of oxygen and that leads to fatigue.  

Feeling depressed

Depression can easily lead to feeling tired. Symptoms such as anxiety and sadness can then manifest in physical signs of fatigue. Then it leads to lack of sleep and appetite. This also leads to tiredness. Therefore, depression can have a snowballing effect on fatigue and the overall health of a person.

The only solution is to seek medical help. A medical professional will refer to the person for either counselling or prescribe medicine. Sometimes, they might do both. The sooner you seeker help the better for your mental and physical health.
